Pick a Side: Planet or Profit?

As Earth becomes increasingly uninhabitable, we at Rho Zeta AI are launching this Open Source Python project Pick a Side: Planet or Profit? to support worldwide Environmental Advocacy. The project focuses on developing free code anyone can use for their own Data Journalism & Citizen Science investigations, accessed via the growing catalog of local Environmental Data Stories shown on the Data Newsroom Atlas below.
You can check out the tech talk that acted as the catalyst/motivation for the Pick a Side project, namely a 3-hour coding tutorial for "Exploring Eco topics with Python" that we ran in April '23 at the PyCon US conference (the Python Software Foundation's flagship event and largest annual gathering for the Python community).
How to use the Data Newsroom Atlas:
- Browse the available Environmental Data Stories represented by the markers (example)
- Review the Python code, (typical Open) data required, and IT requirements for reproducing the Story of interest
- If necessary, see the resources we recommend you use to assist you setting up the IT required (pending)
Please get involved! Here are just a few ways that would be really helpful:
- Help us crowdsource local Environmental Data Stories for the Newsroom! Is there an un/under-reported Green issue you're concerned about where you live? Please tell us about it! You can email info at rhozeta dot io or open an issue on the project GitHub
